50 Hour Yin Training

The dates for the Embodied Yoga School’s next 50 hour Yin training will be coming soon!

Led by Shilah Sarkissian (YACEP and ERYT500) and Krista Stevenson (RYT500)

This training is designed to support the practitioner in a functional way through exploring their own relationship to the energy of Yin. Much of the current Western Yoga practice reflects the cultures need to achieve, push and produce. While all styles of Yoga can be done in a balanced energetic way, Yin Yoga offers us a beautiful gift in that one of its main guiding principles is to embody stillness over time. Seemingly simple in theory, in practice it is quite difficult to do. This training offers a deep dive into the waters of Yin, and it is in the reflection of these waters that we often come face to face with a deeper aspect of our selves. In stillness and confronted with the fluctuations of sensation in the body and the mind, oftentimes a stirring of emotion, wisdom or intuition floats to the surface and we remember the wholeness of who we are. This training offers an intensive investigation into how it is that we can embody ancient medicinal wisdom in our current rapidly changing time. We teach from an integrated perspective of Yogic wisdom, emotional acceptance and regulation, Meridian Theory of Chinese Medicine, the wisdom of observing and syncing with the natural rhythms of nature, womb wisdom and healing, elemental wisdom, Buddhist meditation principles, astrology and cycles of time. All of these teachings are a doorway into Yin energy. Blending what we have learned on our own journeys so far with what those who have paved the way before us have taught us we have created a fully immersive experience that we hope will open you to a deeper relationship with the feminine energy of life.

A little bit about your guides Krista and Shilah:

From Shilah: Being a perpetual student has led to gathering some different tools in my belt, and eventually after a lot of time as a student often led to offering what I learned in a teaching role. In 2009 I did my first 200 hour Yoga Teacher training, and then followed it up with earning my 500 hour designation in 2012, and I have been leading public classes, workshops and international retreats in the time since. My passion for mindful meditative movement led me to opening and accrediting (through Yoga Alliance) my own Yoga Teacher Training school, in collaboration with some wonderful colleagues. Along the way I became interested in other complimentary healing modalities, like healing the body naturally with plants, our own energy, and inner work. Divinely timed, just as my interest was peaking a wonderful teacher came into my life and I began earning my Reiki Master Teacher credentials with her, as well as my Certified Spiritual Healers Credential. A few years ago I started being the teacher for others in the Reiki and Energy Healing realm. Around the same time I met some gifted healers and wisdom keepers in Sedona who took me on as an apprentice and taught me more about the natural healing arts. Most recently I have had the gift of studying under one of the most talented teachers I have ever met, who has opened my eyes to the truth about relationships with myself and with others. Under his guidance I have been able to integrate most of what I spent the last 15 years learning in a way that finally feels embodied. With his help, the knowledge went from a concept, to being a real practice that comes through and shows up in the little moments of my life. I am passionate about an individuals ability to self heal and find balance and wholeness through the help of loving guides of all sorts that show up along the way. My hope is that this course and experience can be a loving pit stop on your journey and enrich your personal exploration in some way.

Krista:Krista Stevenson completed her 200 hr training with Tiffany Russo through Annie Carpenter’s SmartFLOW program, Spring 2017. This program trained her to be able to teach in a way that is detailed to anatomy, alignment, and with a concentration on the physical body. She did her 300 hr training through Embodied Yoga School with Shilah Sarkissian and Josh Plotkin - a program with a focus on embodiment of the mind, body, and spirit. She gives credit to the two completely different programs helping her create a well-rounded, versatile teaching approach. She is committed to a daily yoga practice in some form and loves to share this passion with others. She considers herself always a student, and continually seeks new knowledge and techniques to offer her students. She began yoga as a way to become physically fit, and along the way found that there is a strong, deep connection between our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. She likes to think of the practice of yoga as a union of many different things that we can first approach through asana, or physical postures. Then, as our bodies align, other aspects in our lives naturally follow. Krista also enjoys crossfit workouts, crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends. A Montana native, she feels most at home in the Mountains.

A review from a graduate of the Yin Training

“Thank you Shilah and Krista for a wonderful course! I learned so much about Yin Yoga, the meridians, yin and yang, emotions, and so much more. I also discovered so much about myself and others and truly recommend it to anyone who is willing to learn and be curious. This in-depth course is packed with so much amazing content - with the weekly calls, yoga classes, meditations, and the written & audio content. Thank you for holding space for me to grow, be vulnerable, and discover more things about myself. I appreciate your gentle and heartfelt way of teaching and guiding me through this chaotic time.” Shelly M
