The energy of the new year brings with it the momentum of change; yet for some reason, year after year people set well intentioned “intentions” only to see them last days, weeks or months before crumbling away. Occasionally an intention sticks, but usually, it ends up being another year, another attempt, another course correction. Why? Why is it so hard to stick to it?
Having worked for several years now with helping people set intentions, get focused on what they want, get real and create the life they are meant to live, I have noticed a pattern over and over, that might shed some light on why the “traditional” intention setting doesn’t seem to last. More often than not, the intention is set from the ego’s desire for life to give it something different so that it will finally be happy, finally have what it wants. This is the biggest myth of the unaware ego - it runs a program that assures us that once we have “it” whatever “it” is, we will be satisfied. And, the poor ego! It gets a bad name. We need it - it’s not trying to keep us stuck, it’s only doing it’s job. Without an ego, we couldn’t put on our pants in the morning. The time does come, however, when the soul begins to nudge us more and more, when it is important to start listening to the deeper layers of ourselves - the pieces within that have more wisdom, that are more emotionally mature. Our bodies and our experience that tells us that if only we listened to our souls desire, we might see real and lasting change in our lives.
How do we do that? It’s difficult to write about. It has to be sensed, felt and experienced. It lives in the place between places. And, we have some tools to help guide you there, to listen deeply and then create an action plan around how to embody the souls dreams. To dream your souls desire into being.
